Karlo spout flow diagram
At .75 GPM the flow out of the spout is fairly flat but rapidly deteriorates into a rain-like ribbon. This is not without utility and can be used to good effect.
Between 1-3 GPM the stream is fairly laminar and holds together well the entire measured distance of fall. If you need to limit the amount of splash then this is the range to use.
Beyond 3GPM the stream becomes more chaotic and “wanders”.
The spout can handle a considerable volume of water but beyond 5GPM the flow looks forced. You really don't want it to look like water coming out of a fire hose. Or, maybe you do…
Spout was plumbed with 1in. pipe for all tests. Please be careful when using smaller pipe, the flows tend to distort rather quickly.
